|jenavira||03:55 pm - fic: Fifty-two Days at Sea (Sandman/Pirates)|
Hello. I'm relatively new, and I come bearing fic.
Title: Fifty-Two Days at Sea
Author: Jenavira (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Fandom: Pirates of the Caribbean/Sandman
Pairing: Jack Sparrow/Hob Gadling
Disclaimer: I own nothing. Hob Gadling (and all seven of Jack's odd guests) are property of Neil Gaiman and all those lovely people at Vertigo; Jack Sparrow is property of Jerry Bruckheimer and all those people at Disney; the rest...is history. No, really. Well, most of it.
Gratitude: to Neal Stephenson, for reminding me of Natural Philosphers, the Fire Monument, and the distance from London to the sea (if you're at all interested in the time period, his Baroque Cycle is unparallelled); and to fedora_hat, my wonderful beta.
Author's Notes: It was nearly two years ago now, I am ashamed to admit, that someone in pirategasm requested a crossover between Pirates and Sandman. I intended to write a little one-off with Jack and Hob, but then the story developed a plot and a system of morals and it kind of got away from me. And then I slipped out of the fandom, and then I went abroad...long story short, whoever you were, here's your story. Hope you like it.
If you're a Pirates fan unfamiliar with Sandman, here's all you need to know: the universe is looked after by seven anthropomorphic personifications of the most basic drives: Death, Dream, Destiny, Destruction (who's kind of...retired), Desire, Despair, and Delerium, who was once Delight. Hob Gadling made friends with Dream in 1389, and Dream's big sister Death decided to...indulge him. (I wrote an essay on Hob as well, if you're particularly interested.)

I'm not good at the fanfic. (Err, okay, too intimidated more like...) But I am guilty of fanart flip dolls and wanted to show these guys to people who might get them. I don't know how to post photos, so I'm posting links to photos for now.

Hey! I'm a HUGE fan of The Sandman... anything by Neil Gaiman, really. So... hi ^^ My favorite characters are Death and Delirium... and Dream/Daniel, in a funny way. He doesn't get enough love.
Anyway, to kick it off, I think I'll link to some awesome Sandom LJ icons I made a while back. These include some random ones, and a series of Zodiac symbols with Death ... you'll see.
It's fake. Duh.

|matrixrefugee||12:07 am - FIC: "Sandman"/ "A.I.: Artificial Intelligence" crossover|
I wrote this a while back, and I finally posted it recently. I was trying to come up with an idea for a fic, when I thought of the very last line in one of my favorite movies, "A.I.: Artificial Intelligence", where David the child-android falls asleep at the end of the happiest day of his existence: "And for the first time in his life, he went to that place where dreams are born." It dawned on me that "that place where dreams are born" just might be the realm of the Lord of Dreams... The more I thought about it, the more I realized that just about all the Endless might have played a role in the world of "A.I."
TITLE: The Place Where Dreams Are Born
RATING: Strong PG-13 to mild R (One slash/het scene involving Desire and another character)
SUMMARY: The Endless muse over a drowning world where man forgets to dream and where a child-robot dreams in their place...

Ok so... I'm not the best artist, (if that word even applies), but I decided to give drawing Desire a try, seeing as I got it as a result on a Quizilla quiz, (always a great inspiration), and also because... well, I kinda need some luck in that area at the moment. Who better to placate?
It's also a bit huge:

|tea_and_snark||10:43 pm - Fic: Better to Reign in Hell|
I blame this on Eleanor K, author of Alike in Ignorance, because I really was going to do my Harry Potter stuff until her story got me thinking about Dream/Hob which got me thinking about other Sandman slash ships and now the plot bunnies are multiplying like...bunnies.
This will be posted in segments until I finish it. Comments, crits, my own personal Morpheus as Official
Writer's Whore Fic Advisor...I'm open to possibilities.
Please let me know if the pronouns don't make sense, or are confusing.
